An elderly couple was found dead in their home in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district on Saturday morning, police said, suspecting foul play as multiple injury marks were found on the victims' bodies. The incident took place in Badampur village under the Iglas police station in the district.
The deceased have been identified as Ramji Lal (80), a farmer, and his wife Bhagwan Devi (70). The bodies of the victims were found lying inside their house on Saturday morning by their granddaughter, who then informed the police.
Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kalanidhi Naithani, said, “A local investigation is underway. We suspect foul play as several injury marks were found on their necks, hence it may be a case of strangulation. The bodies were sent for autopsy. They also owned 20 large agricultural plots. We are looking at all possible angles and further investigations are underway.”
The victims are survived by three sons who live in the same village, police said.
